The US childhood immunization program has been very successful in controlling vaccine-preventable diseases in the US. But the high vaccination rates in children responsible for this success do not extend to adolescents. CDC’s National Immunization Survey-Teen (NIS-Teen) data show that adolescent vaccination rates though increasing, are far too low, leaving our teens vulnerable to dangerous infectious diseases that can also be spread to close contacts like young siblings and elderly grandparents.
Adolescentvaccination.org provides resources and professional tools that highlight the importance of vaccination to protect our Nation's next generation and to support a comprehensive approach toward improving vaccination rates. Media can play a critical role in educating the public about the importance of vaccination. This section of Adolescentvaccination.org provides accurate, up-to-date information that will assist you in reporting on adolescent vaccine-preventable diseases.
